2014 – Free range

While I understand how times have changed, I feel that children do not have the same kind of freedom that we enjoyed as kids. The challenges for them today are completely different. They are creative in ways that we would never have thought possible.
I doubt that many parents today would be comfortable with the way we roamed the neighbourhood and beyond. People were less mobile, strangers were feared less and streets were relatively free of fast traffic. Although we lived in a highly industrial area, the sea and the countryside were a mere few kilometres away.
